‘Witholding forgiveness is like taking poison and expecting the other person to die… If it's hard to forgive, let the Savior show you how it feels to be forgiven. Marvin Payne
I am the eldest of eight children, born of goodly parents; Loyal Hastings, all around great Dad, disciple of Christ, fun grandpa, career USAF pilot and my mom, Janice Mendenhall, descendant of Mormon pioneers, tireless mom, amazing cook, terrific grandma. Until I was 29, I never lived anywhere longer than three years. Since then I have lived for 25 years in the same house in Las Vegas. I just celebrated my 31st wedding anniversary with Michele Christensen, a true saint who daily lives what she believes. She also shows each day how much she loves me. We have raised six wonderful children. I am truly blessed by my wonderful family.
I have tried to serve the poor and indigent for 23 years as a Deputy Public Defender here in Las Vegas. I have had great service opportunities nonstop during my life within the Mormon church, starting at age 19 with a two year mission to Samoa. I have also enjoyed serving with youth in the Boy Scouts. Recently I enjoyed a two day, overnight reenactment of a Mormon Pioneer trek pulling handcarts with 200 teenagers. I look forward to retirement with my wife, serving a mission together wherever called, and enjoying some traveling and our family.

That is beautiful and a good reminder. Forgiveness is a tough one, but not enough can be said for its importance!
